Why in the world is there a character limit on the writer's block board? I mean, if someone didn't want to read a five paged essay, they could skip over it! Um, so, yeah, a not mad Cala is asking this.... hmm

Well, we have the character counting feature now, if you know you will be posting something long, why not have a look at what you have written? I don't understand the limit either, to be honest, but I don't think it is such a big deal

SQl database space, really. Welcome to the fact that we can fill up the server between audio, board posts, QN's, etc.

well, hmm, why not delete the really ancient board posts? And it's such a big deal because I want to write something and it's too long, this irritates me.

I don't contribute the writer's board but can see why the limit would be irritating to a writer. But where I would like to lose the character limit is in private messages. I have sent a long PM to a friend a couple of times only to realize some of it did not post. I hate that.

I agree with that too though it's never happened to me

Suggestion. Maybe premium members could have more characters to write 3 or 4 thousant for example but personaly i would never use it. I am not creative enough to write in the writers board.

nikos, love that idea myself.

Here's an idea, kill the character limit *only* in the writer's block board and private messages. At least private messages could be flushed out if they decided to do that.

I know at the beginning of messages it says that you have so many remaining characters, but is there any way you can find out how many you have used, especially if you get long winded from time to time? Smile.

or, you guys can just post your stuff in parts...I mean, it's really not a big deal. 4000 is enough and plenty for the majority of board posts, and as for deleting "ancient" board posts, that's simply out of the question, cause some people do actually have the patients to go back and read really old board posts. I think that the limit should stay as is. You wana post something long, you can post it in 1 or more parts. that is, of course, just my opinion...

With the boards at least you can go out of forms mode and see how many charactors you have left. It displays it at the bottum of every message you write.

Thanks.

I really would like to see the character limit abolished everywhere, and especially "writers block" and private messages. But, thinking it over I can see that database space is a real problem. You have to stop somewhere. If there were no limits I could post my autobiography on the zone, and believe you me that would be a long one, and noone would read it, and that database space would be used.

bla! I say. I see the delema, but so what if people decide to go 50 pages back and read the boards from two years ago? Those posts arn't necessary and... I don't know. Just, the thing I wanted to write can't really be divided up properly.

YOu can see how many you have left when writing a pprivate message too. Just sometimes people when writing long windly don't think to check...
